Description

The Porsche 959 was produced by the house of Stuttgart between 1986 and 1988. The 959 project arose from a study aimed at participation in the Group B rally car competitions, requiring the manufacturer to produce at least 200 street cars, and for this purpose the displacement was reduced to around 2850cc, the maximum limit envisaged for this group. The six-cylinder boxer engine was supercharged with two turbochargers able to deliver what was monstrous power for the era: a full 450 CV. For a short period of time, the 959 was considered to be the fastest road car in the world, thanks to its top speed of 317 km/h. Italian fans of the day were so seduced by its sinuous and streamlined design and by the cutting-edge construction solutions that all the units earmarked for the Italian market were sold out even before being officially put on sale. Production of the 959 did not reach 300 units, even considering the Komfort and Sport models. The car presented here is in perfect condition, one of the first produced by the house of Stuttgart and owned by a well-known former Formula One driver.
