In 1964, the Primula was the first car into FIAT group to experiment the front-wheel drive and front transversal engine.
Characterized by a nice two-volume design with rear fins (inspired by that of Pininfarina's Austin 1100), the Primula could be chosen in a sedan or coupé model.
In 1968 the Primula sedan underwent a restyling involving the front grille and the interior, while on the coupé the tail was completely redesigned which now appears without the characteristic fins.
From a technical point of view, however, the most important news was the adoption of the engines from the Fiat 124. The sedan was equipped with the 1197 cc, 65hp of the FIAT 124, while the Coupé S has the 1438 cc of 75hp of the FIAT 124 Special which makes the little Primula a very funny car to drive.
The production of the Primula ended in 1970, with 74,858 units produced in six years.
