This is the only example in the world of the legendary Vespa Numero 3 98 cc. Known as the “Farobasso”, it stands out because of its headlight mounted on the front mudguard. Unlike other Vespas, the handlebar of the Numero 3 did not have a sheet-metal covering. Designed to withstand long journeys and common problems in post-war Italy such as punctured tyres, it is a much tougher vehicle than the later models which succeeded it. There are no rear shocks, but this function is provided by the springs in the saddle.
