The beating heart of the Desmosedici RR is a 989 cc, 4-stroke four-cylinder engine derived from that of the Moto Gp. The configuration is Twin Pulse asymmetrical bursts with components in aluminum, magnesium and titanium.
The cooling is liquid, while the distribution is desmodromic with double overhead camshaft, controlled by a cascade of gears. There are 4 valves per cylinder. Electronic injection is from Magneti Marelli and manages throttle bodies of 50 mm in diameter.
In pure racing style, the ratios are 6 and the dry multi-plate clutch with slipper is completely removable.
The steering head is connected directly to the heads and the aluminum swingarm is pivoted to the crankcase. Of the highest standard is the multi-adjustable Ohlins fork, pressurized with oil and nitrogen at separate pressures and installed for the first time on a production bike.
The RR was available in two different color versions: one in GP Red with a white number plate on the tail, the other, called the "Team Version", again in GP Red but with a white side band, like the racing bike.
A true MotoGP, perfect testimonial of the very high technological level acquired by Ducati worldwide.
