The Simca 1301, showed for the  first time in October 1966, represented the natural evolution of the old Simca 1300.
The 1301 maintained the previous engine and mechanics and also the same stylistic approach of the 1300, but with a longer nose and tail to allow for greater load capacity, with longitudinal front engine and rear-wheel drive.
On the front, there was a new grille, while on the tail, the previous circular spotlights gave way to two rectangular headlights with horizontal development.
The engine was a 1290 cm³ Rush delivering 54 hp, powered by a single-barrel carburetor, which allowed the Simca 1301 to reach a top speed of 135 kph.
