This latter version, put into production following the great success achieved with the limited edition 2.7RS, highlights the strong sports and racing heritage of the vehicle, adorning itself with the moniker „Carrera“ after the Carrera Panamericana races; this model retains the thrilling 2.7RS engine with mechanical fuel injection which offered 0–100 km/h (0-62 mph) times of 6 seconds, with a top speed of 240 km/h (150 mph).

Its performance and limited production run today make the 911 Carrera 2.7 a highly sought-after vehicle amongst collectors all over the world.
